Bogotá, Colombia: Celebrating Yemenjá

         
“February 2nd, a day to celebrate by the sea”… Everyone will offer presents to rainha Yemanjá.

This is the only large Afro-Brazilian popular celebration that does not have roots in Catholicism, but instead in Candomblé.

This celebration has influenced many artists and intellectuals, such as: Jorge Amado, Pierre Verger, Carybé, Dorival Caymi, Tatti Moreno and many others..

This Tuesday, February 2nd, we will see it up close and pay homage to the celebration of the day of Yemenjá.

Everyone is invited to participate. The event begins at 6 pm.

“Día 2 de febrero, día de fiesta en el mar…” Todos van a entregar sus regalos a la reina Yemanjá.

Esta es la única grande fiesta popular afro baiana que no tiene origen en el catolicismo y si en el Candomblé.
Ha sido tema central de muchos artistas e intelectuales como: Jorge Amado, Pierre Verger, Carybé, Dorival Caymi, Tatti Moreno y muchos otros.

Este martes, 2 de febrero, miramos de cerca y hacemos un homenaje a la celebración del día de Yemanjá.

Están todos invitados a participar a partir de las 6PM

Exposición fotográfica de Kamau Blackney y F. Apolo.
Presentación del documental Odoyá Mãe Yemanjá (15M).
Lectura leyendas africanas por Luiz Arautt y Juan Millan.
Charla con invitada de Rio Vermelho / UFBA, Molije Lima.
Jam musical con nuestros amigos de Saravá, Leo, Edwin e galera.
