The “Let´s Go to No-Go” Project:

In a series of Capoeira Angola, dance and music workshops, we will create a “physical theatre” out of the history and culture of Capoeira Angola.

The project concludes with a trip to Zingst on the Baltic Sea from July 24 to July 27.

We perform our RODA de Capoeira Angola on the BEACH and creations from our workshops in STREET PERFORMANCES.

Mestre Poloca Workshops in Berlin

Here is some information on an upcoming event with Mestre Poloca in Berlin. Besides movement and music classes, it looks like the storytelling workshops relate to an earlier post we did celebrating the "Malungos" event in Salvador in which we presented an article about M Poloca's work as an arte-educador. I hope we can do something similar in the U.S. while M Poloca is here. It is such a unique and creative way to get children interested in Capoeira Angola, especially for children outside of Brazil where there is little to no knowledge of Capoeira. Enjoy!

10th Anniversary of Academia Jangada, Berlin

Berlin's academy for traditional and contemporary Brazilian dance culture celebrates its 10th anniversary.

On July 19 in 1997, Mestre Rosalvo dos Santos and Contra-Mestre Susy Oestereicher founded Europe's first school for Capoeira Angola and Afro-Brazilian Dance. It has always been the goal to pass on both these expressions of traditional Brazilian culture in an authentic environment. This idea had begun taking shape with the arrival of Mestre Rosalvo in 1989, who was the first angoleiro to come to Europe.

We begin on Saturday 07/21/2007 at 1:00 p.m. with open classes for everyone to participate and try out (free):
